The New Generation of ‘Dieting’
Hi there… My name is Charli Cohen, and I’m the owner of TrainWithCharli.com, TheFlatAbsFormula.com and HaveYourCakeAndEatItDiet.com.
I’m also the author and creator of The Flat Abs Formula.
Working in the fitness industry, I’m a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Specialist, specialising in body fat reduction techniques and strength training. I’m soon to be holding my Masters degree.
I’ve travelled extensively and lived in various countries around the world, learning from many different health and diet cultures. It’s great to see how the healthiest and slimmest populations are that way simply because of their naturally healthy way of life. Not a fad diet in sight! I’ve gleaned a lot from the wholesome diets and day-to-day activity of these people, and I can utilise this knowledge to make my own programs that much more effective!
I am what one might call a dedicated health and fitness junkie- I truly love physical exercise, and it’s as much a hobby for me as it is a profession.
I favour short, yet intense exercise and have spent years developing optimal routines for fat loss, using myself as the guinea pig. My workouts provide me with energy, alleviate stress and are often the highlight of my day.
Up until now, my business has been essentially offline, working one-on-one with an ever-increasing number of private clients. It is not, nor ever was my intention to be involved with diet and fitness online. In fact, I wrote The Flat Abs Formula out of frustration. The Internet is absolutely saturated with supposed ‘expert’ advice, that at best is seriously flawed, and at worst is potentially life threatening.
The Diet Industry Deception
It makes me angry to see the vastly misleading advertising and hugely deceptive ‘quick fixes’, targeting an unsuspecting audience that puts its faith in these alleged ‘experts’. As far as I can see, it’s a blatant abuse of trust, without a thought to the poor people who end thinking it’s their fault they’re not losing weight. And that’s to say nothing of the outrageous price tags being placed on what I can only describe as contrived misinformation.
And I have another, more personal reason for feeling so angry with those diet industry lies. I fell victim to this misinformation myself, and went from being overweight to severely underweight. My life was miserable, I was a slave to my diet, and I still hated my body and myself. Even at my lowest weight, I still didn’t have the flat stomach I craved- I’d just wasted away muscle and was left with exactly the same flabby bits that had caused me to diet in the first place. The only difference was that I could squish them into smaller jeans.
My Fat Loss Epiphany
Then suddenly, one day, four years after embarking on this destructive journey, I had a light bulb moment: I saw what I was doing to myself, how dangerously obsessed I’d become and the sheer ridiculousness of the advice that I was living my life by. I was spurred me to seek real, factual information, and I was able to turn both my life, and my body around, into something that I could finally be proud of. At last, I was lean, I was confident and for the first time ever, I had abs!
If I could help, or prevent others from having to endure the frustration, suffering, and the ultimately life-threatening situation that I’d descended into, that experience- and all that I’d learnt from it- would be worth it.
